Jack De Sousa
I am married, with one daughter and a beautiful dog called Bailey. I was born and lived in Portugal, but came to England in 1977 to find work, and have been here ever since! During that time I have worked in some of the best hotels in the UK, such as Gravetye Manor and Tylney Hall. My role was always Food & Beverage based, usually overseeing the management of both the Restaurant and Banqueting departments in large and prestigious hotels.
It was during the late 1980s that I started working with my two Co-Owners; which led to the aquisition Rowton Castle in October 1997.
My 35+ years experience in the hotel industry leave me fully equipped to be involved in all key strategic decisions, however, my most enjoyable role is showing couples our beautiful castle as a potential venue for their future wedding day.
I was born in Wolverhampton; I am married with three daughters and two dogs – a chocolate Labrador and a Miniature Daschund.
I have worked in the hotel industry since the late 1980's. One of my most memorable experiences was whilst as Operations Manager at the Park Thistle, Cardiff in 1998; we were the destination hotel for the European Summit, and I was responsible for six months of planning, along with four days of hospitality and liaison for the British Government, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and Nelson Mandela no less!
As a Chartered Accountant, I oversee all financial aspects of the business, whilst retaining a keen eye on standards of care and services for guests with our operational team. I also take great pleasure from showing prospective wedding couples and their families our facilities and offerings here at Rowton Castle.
I am married with three daughters, one son and two grand children; I also have three dogs and I am a self-confessed petrol head!
I was born and grew up in Norfolk and went to catering college in Great Yarmouth, but due to the lack of permanent jobs at the time I moved to Cambridge and then to Shropshire, working at the Park House and Idsall House in Shifnal as Head Chef. It was at this time that I first met Jack and Bryan. We all worked together in various catering venues as a team, and this has continued here since the acquisition of Rowton Castle.
My role at Rowton incorporates involvement in all business decisions, with a particular focus on overseeing the designing and planning of our menus ensuring that the food produced is prepared to the highest quality, using fresh seasonal ingredients from the best local suppliers. Our objectives are achieved by ensuring we have a loyal and highly skilled team, with exceptional hygiene standards and working practices throughout.
Due to a keen interest in the gardening, I am fortunate enough to be influential with design aspects and planting within the grounds, ensuring they always look their best day after day.
