The reception room of the Cardeston Suite has two sets of double doors opening into the lounge, which is country house style and the ceremony room, which is Victorian Gothic Style. The problem for the designer was to make a successful marriage between the two styles; recently the smaller reception room has been redecorated using soft Apricot colours.
Previously, the walls were filled with intricate artwork, and in order to preserve this for future generations, we have carefully covered it in lining paper, before painting the present design.
The one escapee from the lining is the reclining monkey (pictured above), who looks down on your celebrations from the arch over the lounge doors.
Since Jaci can no longer climb the scaffold, this work has been a marvellous collaboration between artist and decorators, producing a warm and happy room, perfect for parties. The project has now been completed with the painting of the pillars and archways to make this room a vision to behold.
The features are late Georgian, and although very different from the Georgian Gothic details of the ceremony room, we believe they "marry' well.
